Current Projects: Inspired by Twilight

I am just getting over an unexpected funk that made me rather useless for a couple of weeks. I am back and ready to get creating again. I just saw a piece on the woman who wrote the vampire series that launched the movie “Twilight”. It was interesting to hear that the whole premise came to her in a dream. I have experienced this same unusual source that inspired projects that I have created. It has mainly inspired shirt designs or a line or two of dialogue, but I did have a dream that spurred a short screenplay that I recently wrote called “A Twin Killing’. I needed a short for an upcoming web series and had no clue what to write about. The next morning I awoke to the concept and by noon I had my episode written. I submitted it that day and is under consideration for the series.

So, with my reinvigorating, the inspiration of “Twilight” and the need to try to create something marketable, I am embarking on a few projects. I have started blogging for dollars at www.horrorworld.today.com , I am working on the first installment of the Mortis Rigor comic, and will re-write “Hostile Conscience” as a novel. The blog is just my thoughts about the horror world and some insight into my writing and the development of Mortis’ character. I have decided to start the Mortis franchise by creating a few mini comics to introduce the storyline. I bought a comic sketchbook and am crudely sketching each scene and will turn that over to an artist when finished and I can afford to hire one. If anyone reading is interested/capable of comic art and willing to work cheaply or for trade contact me. I wrote Hostile Conscience as a feature-length screenplay but feel it may be better suited as a book. The story is complete so it will mainly be a matter of reformatting and adding greater description. I will also work to improve the story as I do so.

Director Boris Undorf recently gave an interview with Mortis-Rigor.com earlier this week. He just was named the Master of the Macabre as the winner of Projectbreakout.com’s short horror film contest. Congratulations Boris! Perhaps its wrong to take any credit for this accomplishment, but I, personally don’t believe it is just a coincidence. I believe this will be a trend for all guests of Mortis-Rigor.com to go on to great things.

So, if you are a filmmaker, producer, director, writer, actor, or are plugging any horror related project, let us know. A one-on-one with Mortis could lead you to greatness. Feedback from the movie industry

I have been receiving a good amount of interest in my short screenplay thriller, ”The Plea Agreement” since I posted the logline on Inktip.com a couple months back. I have received a couple of offers to purchase it from independent directors and producers but declined since I foresee a larger future for a “high concept” that it is. I did have one award-winning director recently requested it as well. This person has also recently released a horror DVD feature and is second unit directing on a highly popular TV show. I was quite excited about the prospect of this director actually wanting to read my script. I was hopeful that he would make me an offer on The Plea Agreement. I was disappointed to hear that the story didn’t grab him… but he did like my writing and asked for other short scripts of mine. Unfortunately, I have no other completed shorts to offer at this time. It was nice to hear from an up and coming director that my writing appealed to him.

Another positive step is that another director saw the same Inktip logline and contacted me about needing horror shorts for a webseries he’s creating. A few days later, I awoke with a concept and later that day, I completed a short called “A Twin Killing” and submitted it for consideration. I later found out that this director was getting up to a hundred submissions a day for this project. I am happy to announce that my script is under serious consideration for either the first 10 episodes or for future use. I am hopeful to get my first writing credit on this project. Stay tuned.

A while back, I completed a first draft of my first feature, “Hostile Conscience”, a psychological thriller. I wrote this script with Giovanni Ribisi in mind as the lead character. It is my hope someday that he will read it. I think this script has promise but, but I will need to sit down and do a re-write at some point. I think my writing has become noticeably better since I wrote it. I also would like to finish my second feature “Expiration Date”. I am about 3/4 of the way completed on the first draft. I think this one has a great deal of potential, I just need to afford the time to finish it.

The final unfinished writing project that I am hoping to work on soon is the first installment of the Mortis Rigor comic/horror series. I have a few scenes written and am happy with the start but haven’t had the time to get back to it in several months. Hopefully, Mortis will gain a fan base and the demand for his story will force me to write it. A man can dream can’t he?

Hello. Allow myself to introduce myself. I am Brad Royce; principal owner, managing member and creative director of CutThroat Creations, LLC. and this is the launch of our multi-media & entertainment enterprise. The company consists of three unique divisions. First is, CutThroat CueSports™, featuring billiard apparel designs and accessories. Second is the upcoming horror-themed website, Mortis-Rigor.com with original character Mortis Rigor as its host. The site will feature interviews and insights into the Hollywood Horror-Movie scene. The third division centers around the writing of yours truly. With two feature-length screenplay near completion and the on-going development of a comic-book horror series, a couple of completed short screenplays that are currently being shopped around. You can follow along with my progress as I will be updating the blog and the websites with details of all these projects and more.

I am embarking on a highly ambitious series of tasks and undertakings and will chronicle my progress to try & inspire, motivate, entertain or inform readers of this blog. Your feedback and comments will be greatly appreciated and will be a great source of inspiration to me as well. Good, bad, or ugly, I’d love to hear from you.
